Code Inquiry

on Mon May 19, 2014 10:53 am
Hello!

I just wanted to ask about a feature in hopes that it would be possible in coding for some special themes:

Background Image -- Is there a way to keep a specific design on on either side of the forum's scrolling page?  For example, I have a screenshot below that has a design on the back ground image:

Is there a way to ensure it remains on either side of the forum's borders, regardless of the screen resolution of the viewer?  (If this is confusing, let me know and I'll try to explain more.)

And would it be possible to have a header/banner style like this?

So basically you want the sides of the forum to stay the same dimensions on all screen resolutions?

Hiya Leah,

You're wanting to keep the background image the same size as the viewpoint of the user, correct ? If so you should be able to utilize the CSS3 background-size property.

Code:
body { background-size:100%; }

Setting it to 100% will allow for the background image to resize dynamically to the user's viewpoint.

If your wrapper is overlapping the image you should probably check to see that the #wrap width is set as a percent and not a pixel value.

For the banner you're wanting to add a grip like effect on the bottom ?

It looks like the grip thingies are in the image

I don't have a good program to make an example at the moment, but you should be able to see from the banner.

It's the same color as the wrapper(inside) and has a bit of shadowing on the top, could be a border. There's also some shadowing on the left and right to add a bit of depth.

I have decided if Tommy Lee ask to join the staff team I will declined his offer. I have seen how he moderates a forum, and it does not look professional.

Very good decision. I moderate with him on Social Academy and he is awful to work with. I could go into detail, but I wouldn't want to waste your time.  Razz

Tommy Lee joined in my forums , but as a member, I think if he will come in team, we will have a lot of problems with he and a lot of members will go away.

Hi Leah,
Did you still need that header or you got it?

It is very simple to do this header but, I'll let you to find how, because it is better, but I'll give you somet tips.

To create a ghost ( multiple shadows ) effect you should dublicate 2x times your shapes and then go to Edit -> Free Transform -> Go with mouse in some corners and use CTR + CLICK to change them.
You can curve them with Edit -> Transform -> Wrap and it will create the effects from right where are some lines curved with "ghost effect".

Now, to generate a background like this, use the shape tool and play with blending options , in special with pattern and bevel & emboss.

I'll continue this tricks when it gonna look like your demo

I was wanting to see if the header was done via coding, not graphics, but thank you. ^.^ I already know how to create it graphically.

Your tips are great!

Well, in the future, if this happens, I will remove the staff member found doing it without warning.
